Following the latest updated government guidance, Barbican Theatre will temporarily close its doors from Thursday 5 November until December 2nd. After this period of four weeks we will review the situation in line with the latest advice from the UK government. Please see below for details of what we’ll be doing and what services are still being offered by The B-Bar:
ReBels Talent Development Training Classes
We’ve been preparing for a potential second lockdown since we started planning our first term of ReBels Talent Development Training back in August. From Monday 9 November all our ReBels training classes will move online to Zoom. Zoom classes will run at the same time as live classes did. (Classes on Monday 2nd, Tuesday 3rd and Wednesday 4th November will all take place at Barbican Theatre, The Loft or Annabels in the normal way)
Our experienced team of Practitioners have planned sessions with a potential lockdown in mind so they would work in ‘real life’ or digitally. With some members of ReBels already having to isolate and attend via Zoom while ‘live’ sessions were still taking place, we know this can work.
During the March / April lockdown we used YouTube and Zoom to engage with our training members and found this to be a very useful and successful interim method (we’ve had more than 47,000 views of our B-Hive).
So we hope this gives you a little peace of mind that ReBels members will not miss out on training,
Please look out for an email coming this week with details of how the Zoom sessions will work and how to access them. Our ReBels Team have already dropped into to all of this week’s live sessions to update participants and practitioners and answer any questions or requirements they have, including assistance for those who might not have access to Zoom or the internet.
We are also launching Digital ReBels Online Classes from 17 November. These will run for 15 weeks and will remain as online classes via Zoom (even when lockdown ends and classes in our spaces can resume) More info / sign up here

Coxside Cafe Acoustica
Unfortunately our Coxside Cafe Acoustica planned for Teats Hill Amphitheatre on Friday 27 November will not be able to take place. We hope to be back in January with our live acoustic music, spoken word and dance for the Coxside community.

The Comedy Night at The B-Bar on Wednesday 4 November will go-ahead as planned. At this time the Wednesday 2 December Comedy Club will still proceed as planned (if anything changes The B-Bar will contact bookers)
