Who are Young Rebels?
We are looking for dancers aged 16 – 25 to represent their dance group or dance style and gain some really amazing experiences as a young choreographer.
This is a chance for you to represent your style, individuality and choreograph with support from professional dancers.
How do I get involved?
Submit a short 1 min solo film/ showreel that
- Showcases your personal style and dance skills
- Explores a creative response to the idea of boundaries
Deadline for submissions is Thur 1 Aug 2019. (Your youth dance leader can help you with your application).
What will happen?
Eight dancers will be selected and then paired up to create a duet during the first three months. Alleyne Dance will lead a dance masterclass in September for you exploring choreographic ideas and what it feels like to collaborate with a dancer who moves differently to you.
As a duo you will choreograph new creative conversations and fuse your styles to create a live performance piece. In Autumn 2019 you will be supported by a FUSE Diverse Dance practitioner as a mentor to devise duets on the theme of rebellion. Your duets will experiment with mixing styles, celebrating your unique identity and making connections across your dance groups and your partners.
All of the Young Rebels will be performing in festivals, the FUSE February 2020 production and create a dance film. The selected eight Young Rebels will continue to work together and become leaders themselves.
As we get nearer the February 2020 production, you will choreograph alongside the FUSE mentor and your regular dance group leader to produce a chapter in the February production.
