A wayward talent with vocal agility and soulful songwriting skills that have been compared to Erykah Badu. Rue’s fresh, unique style draws upon influences from jazz, soul, R&B and pop resulting in a sound that stands alone in its own right. Performing solo at the B-Bar for this show.
South West based singer-songwriter Rue has been performing across the UK regularly since releasing her debut EP ‘Blinkers’ in 2017. Since then Rue has released singles such as ‘Mr Claude’ which she performed on BBC Spotlight live from Boardmasters Festival. Her latest single ‘Lucid’ was released in June 2020 and received support from radio stations such as BBC Radio and Jazz FM.
Rue’s evergrowing presence in the south west has led her to shows with Martha Reeves & the Vandellas, Newton Faulkner and James Arthur as well performing headline shows at Cheltenham Jazz Festival, Pizza Express Jazz Club in London, Mr Wolfs, and festivals such as Boardmasters, Leopallooza and Tunes in the Dunes. This year Rue has been writing and is looking to release her debut album soon.
