Pay What You Decide
You're invited to join us and our incredible ReBels as they showcase the amazing performances and films they've been creating since September.
Our ReBels are aged 12-25 and over the first two terms of the year have been developing their own ideas and voices to co-created work with our outstanding team of professional ReBels practitioners. They've been mixing parkour and dance, producing their own podcasts, developing acting skills specifically for film, working on improv skills, storytelling, mixing dance styles and so much more...

Pay What You Decide!
This is a Pay What You Decide event which means you choose what the show is worth to you! You can decide what you would like to pay now by adding ticket with a value to your cart, or you can add a ticket with a £0 now and then pay after you have seen the show at Barbican Theatre (cash or card)
Looking around at other events going on in the city, we estimate that 1 ticket to similar events would cost £8.
There is no ‘right’ answer, we are not attempting to lead you to a specific figure. You can pay this suggested amount, less than this or more than this. You can even pay £0 for your ticket.
Reserved Seating
Reserved seating is in place.
Seats B5, B6, B7 and B8 are accessible seats.
We ask that you only book these seats if you cannot easily access other seating in our auditorium (or are accompanying someone who cannot)
If you have any specific access requirements (for example wheelchair access) please leave details in the comment box when placing your order or email our Audience Experience Manager, Robyn, at info@barbicantheatre.co.uk and she will arrange this for you.
Barbican Theatre is a safe space
Safe to be who you are, regardless of race, class, religion, country of origin, immigration status, (dis)ability, age, gender, identity, or sexual orientation.
Who are ReBels?
Our ReBels are all part of one rebellious family - whatever their age, their voice will be heard and skills celebrated.
Weekly sessions take place at Barbican Theatre (in the auditorium or the studio spaces)
Membership is only £60 for an entire year, and members can choose as many sessions as they like (so they can attend any theatre, dance, music, film, digital, tech (etc) sessions for their age for no extra cost!)
Sessions are split into these age groups:
ReBels ages 12 - 15
ReBels ages 14-18
ReBels ages 18- 25
ReBels Music ages 15-25: music production & mixing, composing, learning/playing instruments and finding your own sound.
Digital ReBels ages 14-18: an online only group (held via zoom) where you choose an area of performing arts you're interested in to learn and create from the comfort of your own home.
You can take part in more than one group if you want - it won't cost you any more! (so for example if you're aged 15 you can attend a session for ages 14-18 , ages 15-18 or ages 15-25!)
ReBels means breaking rules, being curious, taking on new challenges and finding your unique voice. Imagine if we uncover an entire new dance style growing out of Plymouth (like KRUMP coming out of LA), or the next music genre (like Grime from London or Drum and Bass in Bristol). Imagine if your job hasn’t even been invented yet? Who’s the next Kae Tempest? What other ways can you tell stories? What stories should we be telling?
Often in the arts world you work alongside other artists, constantly learning new tricks. Sometimes you don’t even end up being a performer but go into film, technology or directing. ReBels will make sure you get the kind of training that gives you a taste of much more than dance and theatre.
We want to support our ReBels as you build your voices and have space to be seen and heard.
Covid 19 Safety
The health, safety and comfort of our audiences, colleagues and performers are very important to us.
Before you arrive
We have a number of measures in place to ensure your comfort and safety.
Enhanced hygiene procedures are in place which include thorough cleans between performances and our ReBels training sessions. We have increased the circulation of fresh air throughout the building so it might be cooler than you are used to. You may want to bring an extra layer, just in case. Hand sanitising stations are positioned throughout the public spaces for audience members and ReBels training members to use and we ask that you do so frequently.
We continue to monitor the latest guidance from the UK Government and the team here will continue to wear face coverings in all areas of the theatre.
When you arrive
Whilst we encourage members of the audience to continue to wear a mask we understand that more and more people are making the decision not to so we would like audiences to be aware that people sitting around them may not wear a mask throughout. If you are concerned about this please get in contact with our Audience Experience Manager Robyn who can discus options for seating that will help you feel more safe.
The Barbican team will all wear face coverings / shields (unless medically exempt) and are also regularly lateral flow tested. This includes our practitioners, core team, the team front of house and back stage.
Social Distancing
Barbican Theatre largely programmes one night performances, with a capacity of either 110 or 140. Due to this programming model at present we are unable to offer socially distanced performances. Please get in contact if you would like to discus seating options for any upcoming events and where possible we will find you an area in the auditorium with the most distance for other audience members.
