BT Music
Mondays 5:30pm – 8:00pm
Ages 15+
BT Music brings together songwriting, live performance, and music production into one integrated programme, offering young people the tools, guidance, and space to explore music in all its forms. Whether you're a vocalist, instrumentalist, producer, or aspiring artist, this weekly session supports you in developing both creative and technical skills.
Led by industry professionals, the class provides access to high-quality facilities and collaborative learning tailored to all skill levels—from those just starting out to those building a career in music.
What You Can Expect:
- Songwriting & Composition: Craft original material and explore storytelling through music.
- Music Production: Learn how to create, mix, and master tracks using professional tools and software.
- Live Performance: Build confidence on stage and gain real-world experience performing your work.
- Recording Sessions: Record your music in a supported environment, and understand the recording process from start to finish.
- Artist Development: Work on your unique sound and identity, including branding and self-promotion.
- Collaboration: Connect and create with other young musicians, producers, and vocalists.
- Mentoring & Feedback: Receive constructive input from experienced artists to support your growth.
This is more than a music class—it's a space for young creatives to shape their voice, refine their craft, and become part of a wider musical community. A larger public performance opportunity is planned for Summer 2026 as part of a youth music festival, involving local and regional partners.

Why we offer tiered membership:
We’re committed to making our youth programme accessible to everyone.
As a charity, we receive some funding to deliver our creative programmes – but this doesn’t cover all of our costs. To help us keep our classes affordable and open to as many young people as possible, we've introduced a tiered pricing structure for our termly membership.
Here’s how it works:
- Everyone gets the same great classes, led by professional artists.
- You choose the price that feels right for your family.
- If you’re in a position to give a little more, you can opt for the 'Help Us' tier to support the programme’s long-term sustainability.
It’s a simple 'Help Us, Help You' approach – you choose what you can afford, and every contribution goes directly into keeping our programme inclusive and high-quality.
Bursaries available
We also offer no-questions-asked bursaries for families who need extra support. Please speak to Dulcie for more information.
Thank you for helping us keep Barbican Theatre Youth a vibrant and welcoming space for every young person who wants to explore their creativity.
