Make A Show In A Day!
If you are a professional or pre-professional dance artist, or someone that is taking their dance and performance training to the next level, then this performance opportunity is for you.
Footwork in Flow will be a dynamic show that is part theatre, part Cypher, part jam session. Inspired by Chicago footwork, rhythm tap dance and electronic music, this performance opportunity is open to dancers from all movement styles that have an interest in rhythm, freestyle, improvisation and musicality. You must have a minimum of 3 years performance experience in any dance style.
You will take part two workshops during the morning. Jess Murray will lead a session about ways to work with rhythms and improvisation inspired by the tap dance culture known as Hoofin’. Then Drew Shears will introduce you to Chicago Footwork skills as you learn about the culture of this dance and music practice.
In the afternoon, Jess will take you through a KinaeSonic Co lab approach to creating dance and music improvised performance. Working with Jess and electronic musician Alex Kearney, you will develop material for the evening performance developing improvisation scores and creating improvised performance systems based that bring movement, music, and interactive lighting technologies together.
