About The Plymouth Scout & Guides Gang Show
The Plymouth Scout and Guide Gang Show is a Plymouth Charity affiliated to Scouting and Guiding in the local areas. Any member of the scout and guide movement in and around the city can take part in the show without fear of auditions or rejection.
This additional branch of the brother and sister movements, allow our members both young and old to have this theatrical opportunity which includes six months of rehearsals and a week in a local theatre. Since it requires just a little confidence but no particular skills, it is possibly the only time that Beavers, Rainbows, Cubs, Brownies, Scouts and Guides will get this experience.
The show has been run by adult leaders of scouting and guiding for some thirty five years. During its long history it has used the Athenaeum, Globe and more recently Barbican Theatre in Plymouth. Though very much an amateur performance, it is taken most seriously by the expert adults and leaders who give their time tirelessly each year to ensure a smooth and well run programme to give the youngsters the best experience. Production, costume, props, sound and lighting along with basic choreography, singing and acting are uppermost in the minds of the committee when planning how to apportion what funds we are able to obtain from ticket sales and fund raising.
Covid 19 Safety Measures
The health, safety and comfort of our audiences, colleagues and performers are very important to us.
We have a number of measures in place to ensure your comfort and safety. Enhanced hygiene procedures are in place.  Hand sanitising stations are positioned throughout the public spaces for audience members to use and we ask that you do so frequently. The theatre will be aired out between rehearsals and performances (for added covid safety) which can mean the space can feel a tiny bit more chilly even after we shut the doors. Therefore we suggest you wear an extra layer to be safe!
All audience members (unless exempt) are asked to wear face masks from as soon as they arrive at the theatre and throughout their visit (including while watching the performance).
All Barbican Theatre team members will be wearing face masks (unless exempt) and will be regularly lateral flow tested. This includes the team front of house and back stage, and performers.
We continue to monitor the latest guidance from the UK Government.
Please do not attend if you
  • Are displaying any Covid-19 symptoms
  • Have had a positive PCR or lateral flow test within 10 days
  • You’ve recently arrived into the UK and have not received the results of your PCR test
  • You’ve been instructed to self-isolate.
  • If you have any questions about your tickets, refunds or exchanges due to covid-related issues please email our Audience Experience Manager, Robyn, at info@barbicantheatre.co.uk
