Anti-Valentine's Night

FUSE Jam

Age 16+

It's an Anti-Valentine's thing...

Come down to Barbican Theatre for an epic night filled with entertainment and improvised silliness and most def no romance!
You can bring drinks and food from the B-Bar so it's a casual, fun evening. (B-Bar menu)
Join in with the fun or just sit back, relax and laugh your ass off!
Our rough plan for the evening is:
Digital Dervish Flamenco Sonic with Hedy Hurban & Mercedes Romero
An exciting performance and demo getting experimental with dance and music. Watch some flamenco and hear about Hedy's new digital research. Even have a go with the Sound Drop kit and learn some footstomping, flamenco basics.
Performance & Singalong with Chloe Carrubba - anti valentine's acoustic songs
"As a somewhat connoisseur of bad dating, bad boyfriends and bad experiences in love. I am excited to play some heartbreak, dust yourself-off and refrain-from-keying-their-car anthems. I hope to bring comfort to those on the most sickly holiday of the year and let you be rest assured in the knowledge that whatever you've got going on romantically, I've had it worse and written a song about it."
Doris Johnson  - anti valentines Drag
Join DoJo for their ballad on the history of queer love and an upbeat parody, to lift the mood again
Open mic
Calling dancers, musicians, theatre makers, poets, drag artists, and everyone in between to perform your  scratch style pieces (or just experiment!) We only have about 45 mins for this bit so if you want to guarantee a spot email suzie@barbicantheatre.co.uk
Anti-Valentine's Comedy Improv
More info on this bit to follow - we're currently working on it and the conversations are both weird and hilarious!
Anti Valentine's Karaoke
Hosted by Doris Johnson and Chloe Carrubba.
Be sure you bring your choice for the ultimate anti valentine's tune! We're thinking independent, strength ands dynamism and not a soppy love song in sight!

Covid 19 Safety
The health, safety and comfort of our audiences, colleagues and performers are very important to us.
We have a number of measures in place to ensure your comfort and safety. Enhanced hygiene procedures are in place.  Hand sanitising stations are positioned throughout the public spaces for audience members to use and we ask that you do so frequently. The theatre will be aired out between rehearsals and performances (for added covid safety) which can mean the space can feel a tiny bit more chilly even after we shut the doors. Therefore we suggest you wear an extra layer to be safe!
In line with new regulations issued on 8 December, unless exempt, all audience members are required to wear face masks from as soon as they arrive at the theatre and throughout their visit (including while watching the performance).
All Barbican Theatre team members will be wearing face masks (unless exempt) and will be regularly lateral flow tested. This includes the team front of house and back stage, and performers.
We continue to monitor the latest guidance from the UK Government.
Please do not attend if you
  • Are displaying any Covid-19 symptoms
  • Have had a positive PCR or lateral flow test within 10 days
  • You’ve recently arrived into the UK and have not received the results of your PCR test
  • You’ve been instructed to self-isolate.
  • If you have any questions about your tickets, refunds or exchanges due to covid-related issues please email our Audience Experience Manager, Robyn, at info@barbicantheatre.co.uk
