St Peter & Waterfront Funding

Our local Councillor, Chris Penberthy and Plymouth City Council have given funding to offer spaces in Barbican Theatres ReBels weekly classes, for 5 young people who live within the St Peter & Waterfront Ward (see map below) for an entire year!
These spaces are available to young people for who involvement in these sort of activities or a programmes would otherwise not be possible due to financial barriers.
The next term starts from Monday 8th January  2023 and covers things such as producing music and podcasts, acting for film, puppetry, expressing yourself and creating work for performance.
As well as learning new things, our ReBels groups are great fun - you’ll make new friends in a welcoming, non judgemental and safe space. All voices are heard and everyone is welcome.
We also have extra safety measures in place to ensure the wellbeing of our class members and teaching team during the Covid pandemic and beyond.
The FREE places are available to anyone who is aged between 12 - 25 (inclusive) and who live within the St Peter and Waterfront Ward as shown on the map below. These free places are for those for who would not ordinarily be able to afford to attend such classes or activities  - it is important to us, Chris and that money is not a barrier to engagement with the arts (and making new friends and having fun).
To find out about what the classes are like check out our ReBels page here
Places will be given on a first come first served basis. This isn’t limited to one space per household so if there are two people within this age group in a family they can both ask for one!
To ask about having one of the FREE places please email us at rebels@barbicantheatre.co.uk (please let us know your name, address and date of birth)
