Living in Plymouth is a tremendous privilege, the variety within our city enriches my own and my family’s life on a daily basis. Originally from Lancashire, I adopted Plymouth as my home when I relocated here in 2008. I live with my partner Kyle and my 3 children (now young adults!) Honesty, Jude and Briar.
For the last 20 years I have worked in Primary education and have served as a Senior Leader in Plymouth for many years and currently as Headteacher of a large Primary School. I also managed to squeeze in a headship over in Cornwall for a period of time, however I remained living in Plymouth!
I believe heartily that the theatre should be a place of reflection, safety and enjoyment for all. As part of the board my drive is to bring our young generation into a space where they feel welcomed, able to express the essence of who they are and challenge perceived social pressures. As a member of the LGBTQ+ community I not only support, but empathise with some of the demands life can put on us to conform and live up to a certain set of expectations.
In my spare time I enjoy looking at, being on and in the sea! I can’t claim to be a pro surfer, open water swimmer, paddleboarder or coffee sipping expert… …but anything active is for me! Finally I have a passion for cycling and tennis. I cycle most places and can be found a few times a week putting the brakes on as I instruct indoor cycle classes using a playlist of new and slightly older dance tracks!
