Nathan works at the Barbican Theatre as a freelance lighting designer and technician, assisting Jamie Smith to give technical support to visiting companies and in-house productions throughout the year. He trained as an actor with The Actor’s Wheel at Plymouth Marjon University, and through his studies he met Jamie Smith and began to explore the technical side of the industry. Training with the Barbican Theatre’s Tech Force and working hands-on in the industry, Nathan has developed his skills and craft since 2013, and enjoyed working alongside some of the industries finest creatives.
Nathan is currently the Theatre Technical Manager at Plymouth Marjon University; overseeing the technical and venue requirements for all the Performing Arts undergraduate courses. Nathan loves working with emerging artists, helping them hone their creative disciplines and prepare them for work in the industry.
Nathan has designed lighting and sound for numerous shows across the south west, including “2000 Stories” (Beyond Face, Theatre Royal), “The Trial” (Actor’s Wheel, Marjon Quad Theatre), “An Evening with Krampus” (The Wheel, Barbican Theatre), “Snow Beast” (Scratchworks Theatre Company, Barbican Theatre and touring venues), and many more.
