Lead Practitioner for COMPANY b Dance and Assistant Practitioner for Dance Junction
In my role as a practitioner, I work with our young people to create authentic, vibrant, thought-provoking dance peformances. COMPANY b Dance sessions consist of training in various contemporary dance techniques, choreography and improvisation alongside creatively exploring interesting topics that culminate in the creation of a performances.
I support our young people by facilitating bespoke, unique sessions. They are informed by a variety of art forms such as dance/movement, storytelling, drama/theatre, physical theatre, installation art, creative writing, social experiments and improvisation/creative explorations. I like to encompass the use of different learning styles and keep participants feeling inspired, engaged and ‘thinking outside of the box’.
I always enjoy engaging open-minded, committed, driven, passionate, creative individuals and love welcoming people and giving them the chance to challenge themselves and feel supported and guided throughout their journey.
I have definitely gone on a monumental journey with Barbican Theatre. Having been involved with the organisation since I was 6 years old, through summer schools, classes, and workshops. I was a member of COMPANY b Dance and Dance FORCE and have also performed my own works on the Barbican stage. It has been fascinating to experience things ‘on the other side’ as a member of the Performance Training team working in an environment that has heavily contributed towards my growth as a person and an artist. I will always be hugely grateful for the support, guidance, training and opportunities that I have received from such a wonderfully unique place.
