I graduated from Falmouth University in BA (Hons) Dance and Performance in 2016 and have been teaching creative and Contemporary dance styles to ages 3-25 in Devon and Cornwall, whilst also performing in different styles and in different settings all over the South West. This is my third academic year working as a Dance Practitioner for the Barbican Theatre and I have had the opportunity to choreograph and explore different and complex pieces for the young people who train with us. I find choreographing very much a collaborative process, taking the participants own choreographic ideas and inputs into my own work, so the dancers really feel ownership of their work and can be proud to call it their own. I learn from our young participants just as much as they learn from us in every class, and this one of the reasons I love teaching at the Barbican Theatre. I aim to deliver accessible, exciting and engaging classes to my participants whilst providing a nourishing, enriching and fun environment for them to develop their dance skills along with making new friends and feeling part of a dance family. I’m super excited to continue to work with the Barbican Theatre and the young participants, continuing our learning together and creating a path of understanding, diversity and innovation.
