Production & Technical Manager
Jamie has worked for Barbican Theatre since 2010, first starting as a volunteer before working his way up to becoming Production and Technical Manager. Jamie started his career with a degree in broadcasting, but after taking advice from people in the industry turned to theatre as an opportunity to explore light in a different way. He soon discovered that he loved the challenges, creative possibilities and variety of performances that he interacted with. To this day this is still something he enjoys along with the satisfaction of delivering a show with the team.
Jamie is responsible for all technical and production elements of performances and events at the Barbican and our sister venue The Plymouth Athenaeum.
He is a duty first aider and has recently completed the ABTT Bronze Award for theatre technicians. In 2013 he also attended a creative residency in France alongside dance artist Jane Castree where he was able to develop and explore his ideas in lighting design further- this is another passion of Jamie’s and he feels it is important that this is something he continues to develop within his role.
Jamie also runs the theatre’s Tech FORCE programme which offers people the opportunity to gain understanding and experience in technical theatre and running shows.
If you visit the theatre you’ll often find Jamie up a ladder, drawing up a lighting plan or working alongside the team on the latest event or project.
