Dulcie is a lover of theatre, music and all things dramatic.
She gained her passion through stage acting and trained at the National Youth Theatre, later becoming an ambassador for them. Having gained her teaching qualification, Dulcima transitioned into teaching theatre and music as a way to enable foreign students to learn English which she did across Italy and in the UK. Developing an enthusiasm for seeing young people be able to express themselves through performing arts, she then went onto train and manage other teachers and facilitators. In her own work she enjoys exploring themes of race, national identity, integration within the arts sector and how we can use the arts to give voices to marginalised communities.
As ReBels Co-ordinator, Dulcie is responsible for organising each term’s programme of classes for our young people, supporting practitioners, developing relationships between the community and our young people, working with schools and leading safeguarding. She loves being able to help make the Barbican a safe, supportive and vibrant space for young people to come and explore themselves creatively and enjoys watching them develop into the next generation of artists and changemakers.
